How Do Banjo Players Change Their Tuning While Playing?
Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
Something that can be confusing (and impressive) to beginners or people who don't play the banjo is the way that banjo players change their tuning in songs like Flint Hill Special or Randy Lynn Rag. The way this is done is actually pretty simple! It is done with a special type of tuners called D tuners. Watch this video for an explanation of different types of D tuners and how they work. Thanks...

actually, both of these banjos are considered "cheap" and really not worth the money.

its not just the difference in sound, which is unfair filtered through the mic of a crappy phone, its about the feel, the ease of tuning and the noting of the banjo itself. Also, dont forget the looks. looks good plays good.

Honestly, I hear a difference. But hearing it through youtube is not convincing enough. Compressed sound is rarely enough, you gotta hear it in real life and even then I'd imagine both sound similar. Get the 150 one as a hobby player. You wanna join Mumford and Sons get the pro stuff.

The $150 banjo shows signs of being played more often. They are both well played, of course. Side by side, the $1900 has a distinctive cleaner ring to it, a more focused note, that the instrument holds longer than the $150. They both hit the note, Mr $1900 makes it sound sweeter and cleaner.

Sometimes it's just physically playing: Neck thickness, the feel of the frets, do the machine heads hold the tuning? Fixing the problems of a cheap instrument can make it an expensive one really fast. Years back I went from a cheap clarinet to a nice Selmer, what a huge difference!
